And you thought there was only one movie about electric cars hitting the cineplex and DVD racks soon. While we just got to see the first trailer for The Revenge of the Electric Car, a movie called What is the Electric Car? will have its Hollywood premiere tonight (it was already shown in other cities, including Miami) at the Egyptian theater. On hand will be a handful of electric vehicles and the producers will be giving away an EV after the screening (we're not sure which one, and it appears that they'll be giving it to one of the people who "like" the film on Facebook).
From the looks of that Facebook page and the film's IMDB entry, What is the Electric Car includes a lot of the people we've profiled here on AutoblogGreen, including Michael Kadie and Ed Begley Jr. The film also has a mission statement, which is:
This is a higher calling than some of the other films from Nemours Marketing, the company behind the film. We're thinking of Magic 4 Morons and the Who Stole The Electric Car? "comedy." Still, it looks like plug-in vehicle fans will be getting together for a fun evening tonight in Los Angeles. If anyone goes, let us know if the movie is worth watching. The press release, available after the jump, says it's a "75 minute infomercial for electric cars," which kind of worries us.... to educate and motivate consumers to become Electric Vehicle owners, which will result in less dependency on a depleting oil supply, a greener planet and a better future for our children.
