Well, at least there was that gas tank to fall back on.
About one in five attempts by Green Car Reports to use the delayed-charging settings to recharge its 2011 Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in has resulted in a lack of charging from the Coulomb 240-volt charging station. Coulomb isn't denying the issuing, saying the problem is "high-frequency ground currents induced by the Volt on-board charger."
Green Car Reports said that its Nissan Leaf battery-electric vehicle didn't have similar problems with the delayed-charging mode, which plug-in drivers use to schedule recharging times late at night in order to get the cheapest electricity and put the least strain on the grid. Green Car Reports has had its Volt since January 2011. Fortunately, Coulomb has offered to replace affected chargers being used for 2011 Volts "for a limited time."
