This year's Paris Motor Show is shaping up to be an interesting one. Autocar reports BMW is planning to show off the production version of the upcoming 3 Series Gran Turismo next month. Word has it the five-door will offer buyers a long-wheelbase version of the 3 Series they know and love along with love-it-or-loathe-it styling borrowed from the 5 Series GT.
BMW hasn't served up much in the way of details, but the report indicates the 3GT will be a bit shorter than the Chinese-market 3 Series Li, which spans just under 115 inches from bumper to bumper. The model will also share underpinnings with the upcoming 4 Series Gran Coupe, which is slated to debut in 2015.
The 3 Series GT is also expected to offer the same two-piece tail gate as its larger sibling, the 5GT. Combined with a slightly taller roof and more interior room, BMW hopes the new creation will appeal to families who don't want to jump into a 3 Series wagon.
