BMW ActiveHybrid 5 Pricing Announced

BMW's ActiveHybrid 5 combines a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder with an electric drive system and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The electric motor produces an extra 55 horsepower, but the maximum output of whole powertrain is 340 hp.

The Bavarians say that the hybridized 5-Series will be available in Germany from the base price of €62,900. This makes it a full €12,200 more expensive than the 535i, with which it shares the 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six.
