Recently, Hydro-Québec handed over the keys to 15 Mitsubishi i-MiEVs that were delivered to the Boucherville businesses that will take part in the second phase of Canada's grandest electric vehicle trial. Thierry Vandal, president and chief executive officer of Hydro-Québec, notes that:
Coordinated by Hydro-Québec, the on-road trials in Boucherville (a city in the Montérégie region in Quebec, Canada and a suburb of Montreal) are designed to assess users' charging habits, driving experience and overall vehicle satisfaction. The plug-in vehicle initiative follows the Action Plan for Electric Vehicles unveiled by the government of Québec in April. The provincial government aims to have 300,000 plug-in vehicles on roads across Quebec by 2020. If that target is met, then the province expects to realize a reduction in CO2 emissions of nearly 900,000 tons. This second phase brings us to the very heart of the project, focusing on the needs of businesses and their employees who work in Boucherville.
