The Renault-Nissan alliance has inked various deals related to electric vehicles (EVs) with countries, cities and other organizations across the globe. To date, the Alliance has signed at least 60 agreements aimed at promoting "zero emissions" vehicles, but cracking into South America has proven difficult. Renault-Nissan's only previous EV-related deal with a South American city was signed with Sao Paulo back in April, but now the Alliance has added the Argentinean city of Cordoba to its ever-expanding list of organizations intent on promoting EVs.
Cordoba is home to Renault-Nissan's Santa Isabel plant, which is often described as the Alliance's most modern production facility in the world. Under terms of the agreement, Renault-Nissan and the City of Cordoba will establish a joint working group to examine the viability of bringing EVs into the city. Daniel Giacomino, mayor of Cordoba, and Dominique Maciet, chief executive officer of Renault-Argentina, will explore opportunities and secure funding for the deployment of EVs within the city. Though already considered the front-runner in the race to deploy EVs, Renault-Nissan continues the push for "zero-emissions" domination.
